Dumporijo, Feb 21: A devastating fire incident gutted four houses at Shanti Colony in Dumporijo on Thursday night, leaving several families displaced and causing extensive damage to property.
Though no casualties were reported, household belongings and valuables were completely destroyed, rendering multiple families homeless. Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
Local MLA Rode Bui visited the affected area to assess the situation and express solidarity with the victims. Interacting with the displaced families, Bui described the incident as heartbreaking and assured them of all possible assistance. He extended immediate financial assistance from his side to help the families cope with the crisis.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) also reached the spot and provided Govt relief support to the affected households. Temporary arrangements are being made to ensure shelter and basic necessities for the displaced families.
Bui urged the ADC to constitute a committee for proper investigation and assessment of the damages. He stressed the importance of submitting the assessment report to the Govt at the earliest so that additional financial assistance could be sanctioned without delay.
