Itanagar, Feb 24: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday attended the Golden Jubilee Nyokum Yullo celebration at Bameng, marking a significant milestone in the cultural and spiritual journey of the Nyishi community.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt prayers to Nyokum Ane, seeking peace, prosperity and unity for the people. He noted that Nyokum is not merely a festival but a profound expression of the community’s bond with nature, faith and tradition.
“Nyokum is not merely a festival, it is our deep bond with nature. On this sacred occasion, we offer our heartfelt prayers to Nyokum Ane for peace, prosperity and unity of our people,” Khandu said.
Highlighting the importance of preserving indigenous traditions, the Chief Minister lauded the people of Bameng for upholding their rich cultural heritage while striving for progress and development.
In a major announcement, Khandu revealed that development projects worth Rs 67 crore have been sanctioned for Bameng constituency. He described the allocation as a strong and concrete commitment of the state government towards transforming the region and accelerating its growth trajectory.
“I am happy to share that we have come to Bameng with Rs 67 crore worth of development projects — a strong and concrete commitment towards transforming our constituency,” he stated.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the Golden Jubilee celebration would usher in a new era of development and collective progress for Bameng. He called upon the people to work together in unity to build a stronger and self-reliant constituency.
The Golden Jubilee celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from community leaders, public representatives and local residents, reflecting the deep cultural significance of Nyokum Yullo and the spirit of unity among the people.
Prominent among the attendees were Home Minister Mama Natung, RD & Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing, and MLAs Kumar Waii, Hayeng Mangfi, and Ealing Tallang.
