ITANAGAR, Feb 25: A citizen journalism initiative of the Regional News Unit (RNU), Doordarshan Kendra Itanagar, called ‘Mera Gaon, Meri Kahani’, aimed at encouraging residents to share authentic stories from their villages and communities, was launched at the DDK premises here today.
The joint launch was done by a host of dignitaries including Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, Supreme Court advocate Jyoti Zongluju, internationally acclaimed model physique athlete Hillang Yajik, Padma Shri awardee and ace Everester Dr Anshu Jamsenpa, Jt Director (News) & RNU Head Utsav Parmar, DDK Itanagar HoO Rajeev Kumar; HoP Grace L Pachuau, and AE Amrit Lal Saroj.
Speaking at the launch event, Parmar stated that Arunachal Pradesh is geographically vast and culturally diverse, making comprehensive coverage through stringers alone a challenge. He said the initiative aims to involve citizens directly in documenting grassroots-level social, cultural, and developmental activities from across the State.
Appreciating the initiative, Kumar observed that citizen participation would play a vital role in highlighting grassroots development while strengthening community engagement in public service broadcasting.
Under the initiative, citizens can submit original, factual, and constructive content related to education, health, local entrepreneurship, culture, environment, and social initiatives. Written submissions should be between 150 and 300 words. Photographs must be clear and accompanied by captions, while videos may range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes in duration.
Submissions of MGMK are accepted in Hindi, English, or regional/local dialects, with translations in Hindi or English where required. Contributors must provide their full name, village or town, district, and contact number. Each submission must clearly mention the date, time, and location of the content.
