Ruksin, Feb 25: The Ruksin Area Youth Forum (RAYF) has submitted a representation to the East Siang district administration seeking an immediate round table conference on the proposed Ferro-Silicon Plant imbroglio.
According to official sources, the letter was forwarded by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Ruksin, to the Deputy Commissioner of East Siang district for consideration. The RAYF leaders have proposed that discussions on the contentious issue be held at the district level initially, before involving higher authorities.
The ADC has requested the Deputy Commissioner to take a final decision on the proposal and communicate the same at the earliest so that the information can be conveyed to members of the Forum.
Meanwhile, tensions surrounding the proposed project continue. Bharty Panyang (62) was hospitalised early this morning after her health reportedly deteriorated amid the ongoing indefinite hunger strike by Ngorlung-Ralung women opposing the plant.
