Nyokum Yullo celebrated at Pasighat in befitting way

PASIGHAT, Feb 26: The 2nd Nyokum Yullo celebration was successfully hosted in Pasighat under the banner of the Nyishi Students’ Union, Pasighat (NSUP), bringing together students, community elders, and dignitaries in a vibrant display of culture, unity and tradition.

The two-day celebration on February 25-25 witnessed the participation of a large number of students from various colleges and universities across Pasighat, along with elders from the Nyishi community.

The event showcased traditional rituals, indigenous sports, and special cultural nights, reflecting the rich heritage of the Nyishi community of the State.

Adding on to the spirit of cultural harmony, the Gorkha Union of Pasighat also participated in the celebration.

As a mark of mutual respect and communal unity, the Union exchanged tokens of love with the Nyokum Festival Committee, symbolizing solidarity and cultural diversity among communities.

The event was graced by Tapi Darang, local MLA, as chief guest, along with Tagom Padung, Chief Councillor PMC Pasighat, as guest of honour, Kamin Lego, Deputy Chief Councillor PMC Pasighat, while Councillor PMC Rahul Tamuk also attended.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA expressed his immense pleasure in being part of the auspicious occasion alongside the Nyishi brethren and the student community. He appreciated the NSUP for organizing the festival with great enthusiasm and for upholding the true spirit of Nyokum in a place like Pasighat.
