SAC meeting held for Changlang dist

ITANAGAR, Feb 26: The 12th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting was convened today at the conference hall of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jairampur in Changlang district.

The meeting was chaired by District Agriculture Officer LK Taiju. The participants included representatives from various line departments such as agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, and progressive farmers.

The second half of the meeting featured detailed discussions on proposed On-Farm Trials, Front Line demonstration, and training programs aimed at enriching local agricultural practices. Participants contributed valuable suggestions to refine the action plan for the upcoming year.

During the technical session, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Dr Devendra Singh Chhonkar, delivered a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the annual progress report for 2025-26. The report highlighted various technologies implemented through On-Farm Trials, including soybean varieties like VL Soya89 and VL Bhat202, as well as Sesame Varieties such as CUMS-17.

Important discussions included potential new research projects focusing on the application of Nano DAP on potatoes and organic farming techniques for king Chilli.

Pest management strategies for litchi mites and potato white grubs were also mapped out of the Annual Action Plan for 2026-27, emphasizing the introduction of several high-yield and drought resistant crop varieties, including purple rice, bio-fortified varieties and advanced horticultural practices.

Efforts to manage pests, promote sustainable animal husbandry and evaluate fish species were also highlighted. Dr Chhonkar urged the participants to maintain collaborative spirit and share knowledge to further the agricultural development of the region.
