SOP on ‘Nari Shakti & Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ organized at FTII Itanagar

Itanagar, Feb 27: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Itanagar, organized a Special Outreach Programme (SOP) under the umbrella theme “Nari Shakti & Viksit Bharat @ 2047” at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) here on Thursday.

The programme primarily aimed at sensitizing FTII staff and students about the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and promoting awareness on women’s empowerment.

Gracing the programme, Dr Jyoti Zongluju, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and former Legal Lady of Arunachal Pradesh, encouraged girl students to dream big, be independent, and strive for self-reliance. She underscored that respect for women must begin at home to bring about meaningful societal change. She also urged all students to uphold mutual respect and equality.

Delivering an informative session, Advocate Morrik Bagra, practitioner at the Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court, elaborated on the salient features of the POSH Act, its implementation mechanisms, and the safeguards available to protect individuals from workplace harassment. He also sensitized participants about the legal implications of misuse of the Act and discussed other relevant legal provisions beneficial for students.

In his inaugural address, FTII Registrar Utsav Parmar emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and highlighted the significant role women play in nation-building and societal development.

As part of the programme, an impromptu speech competition on the theme “Nari Shakti & Viksit Bharat” was organized, and prizes were distributed to the winners. The event was further enriched by a vibrant folk-dance performance presented by the Bugun Cultural Society.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, reaffirming collective commitment towards gender sensitization and the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

TEZU: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Tezu organized a Special Outreach Programme (SOP) on ‘Nari Shakti & Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ at Denning College for Teacher Education (DCTE), District Lohit.

Badang Tayang, Chairman DCTE Tezu, graced the programme as guest of honour. Solel Longling, Deputy Director Women and Child Development, Lohit, and Prakriti Yun, Assistant Professor, DCTE, attended the programme as resource persons.

Addressing the participants, Longling highlighted the significance of Nari Shakti in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized that women must emerge as strong leaders and ensure equal opportunities for all beneficiaries through higher education, skill training and self-employment initiatives. He also apprised the participants about various government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Mudra Loan, Lakhpati Didi Yojana, Namo Drone Didi and the POCSO Act.

In his address, Tayang stated that Nari Shakti should not only be discussed but understood and implemented in real life. He encouraged women to persevere and actively participate in nation building efforts. Highlighting that nearly 70 per cent of the college’s students are women, he observed that the increasing participation of women in higher education reflects their growing empowerment. He further noted that the Government is implementing various schemes aimed at strengthening women’s socio-economic status.

Speaking on the occasion, Yun underlined that women empowerment is fundamental to India’s development journey. She stated that economic growth, social inclusion, innovation and global leadership cannot be achieved without the full and equal participation of women. She cited examples of distinguished women leaders such as Droupadi Murmu, Nirmala Sitharaman, Indra Nooyi, Falguni Nayar and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw as examples of women excelling in diverse fields. She also emphasized the vital role played by women through Self-Help Groups in strengthening rural economies. She remarked that a truly Viksit Bharat can be realized only when women are equal partners in the nation’s progress.

As part of the programme, a competition was organized wherein Ribom Ngobang secured the first position, followed by Thekkop Lungphi in second place and Sylvia Dele in third place. Winners were awarded by attractive prizes from CBC, FO Tezu.

Earlier, Parvesh Kumar, HoO, CBC Tezu, briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of the programme.
