CM holds discussion with Coffee Board to boost coffee cultivation in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Feb 28: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday held a fruitful discussion with the Chairman of the Coffee Board of India, M J Dinesh, along with CEO & Secretary Kurma Rao and senior officials, to explore avenues for expanding coffee cultivation in Arunachal Pradesh.

The meeting focused on strengthening coffee plantations in the state and unlocking the immense potential of local farmers in the sector. Emphasizing Arunachal Pradesh’s favourable agro-climatic conditions for quality coffee production, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for technical support, scientific guidance, and better market linkages to enhance farmers’ income.

During the discussion, the state government proposed organizing a training-cum-interactive session in April with the Coffee Board’s technical team. The initiative aims to provide coffee growers with improved exposure, modern cultivation practices, processing techniques, and market connectivity.

Khandu expressed confidence that with institutional support and scientific interventions, coffee cultivation can emerge as a promising avenue for sustainable livelihood and economic growth in the state.
