Swadharma Sammelan at Daporijo draws over 5,000 participants

Daporijo, Mar 1: More than 5,000 believers from different religions and communities, cutting across caste and creed, participated in the Swadharma Sammelan held at the Daporijo Festival Ground in Upper Subansiri district on Sunday.

Organized as part of the 100-year celebration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the programme was conducted in a befitting manner, featuring colourful cultural displays representing the indigenous belief systems and traditions of various tribes and communities.

The main objective of the Sammelan was to uphold and protect indigenous traditions, cultural heritage, beliefs, and value systems. Participants from different communities including Tagin, Galo, Nyishi, Bihari, Gorkha and Assamese attended the event in large numbers, reflecting unity in diversity.

Representatives from various Donyi Polo prayer centres (Namlo) from different villages actively took part in the programme. Several organisations, including Tagin Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society, Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society, Arunachal Vikas Parishad and Nyibu (Priests) Association, also participated in the event, according to organizing chairman Pimbu Sorum and secretary Dr Gandhi Neba.

Speakers on the occasion emphasized the need to preserve and protect age-old indigenous traditions, belief systems, and cultural identity for future generations.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and underscored the importance of safeguarding indigenous faith and cultural heritage in the district.
