GHSS Daporijo Alumni construct 22-ft marble-clad entrance gate through crowdfunding

Daporijo, Mar 1: The Alumni Association of Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo has taken a significant step towards strengthening the infrastructure and dignity of its alma mater by constructing a grand marble-clad main entrance gate through voluntary crowdfunding.

Established in 2018, the Alumni Association has consistently worked with dedication for the development and welfare of the institution. Over the years, the Association has undertaken several renovation and developmental works, including renovation of the Principal’s Office, improvement of boys’ and girls’ washrooms with drinking water facilities, construction of a cement concrete pavement road between washrooms, classroom repairs, construction of a boundary wall, cleaning of waterlogged drains through mass social service, and providing salary support for guest teachers to strengthen academic activities.

In its 18th meeting, the Association unanimously resolved to construct a world-class marble-clad entrance gate as a symbol of pride and collective responsibility. The construction work has progressed successfully and was completed up to the beam level on February 28. The structure, rising 22 feet above ground level, features two reinforced concrete beams measuring 6.90 metres in length and 2 metres in breadth, ensuring structural strength and aesthetic appeal.

According to the Association, this type of architecturally designed grand school gate has not been constructed before in Upper Subansiri district and may be unique in the state. Once completed, it is expected to mark a new chapter in the educational infrastructure history of Arunachal Pradesh.

However, some finishing works remain pending, including brickwork for the top design, plastering, marble cladding, engraving of the school name, procurement of river sand, payment of mason wages, and other final touches. The Association has appealed to all alumni members to come forward and voluntarily contribute towards the ongoing crowdfunding initiative to ensure timely completion of the project.

The Association has also expressed sincere gratitude to all distinguished alumni members who contributed during the first phase of crowdfunding, stating that their generous financial and material support has made the landmark initiative possible.

Chairman of the Alumni Association, Dosh Dasi, reaffirmed the commitment of the alumni community to strengthen their alma mater and leave behind a lasting legacy for future generations.
