Tenchuk ceremony for Dalai Lama held in Dharamshala; Arunachal delegation joins

Dharamshala, Mar 13: A Tenchuk (Long Life Prayer) Offering for 14th Dalai Lama was successfully held at McLeod Ganj in Dharamshala on Wednesday, organised by Tibet Support Groups of India.

Hundreds of delegates from Himalayan Suraksha Manch Arunachal Pradesh (HSMAP) participated in the sacred ceremony. The delegation was led by HSMAP president Tarh Tarak and secretary general Nima Sangey, along with Kaling Moyong, state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Arunachal Pradesh.

On the occasion, HSMAP released a souvenir commemorating the Tenchuk offering ceremony, which was graciously unveiled by the 14th Dalai Lama during the programme held on the eve of his 90th birth anniversary.

The national convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India and chairman of the Tenchuk organising committee, RK Khrimey, said representatives of 24 Tibet Support Groups across India offered heartfelt prayers for the long life, good health and continued guidance of the Dalai Lama.

Recalling his meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader in 1977 as a young Member of Parliament, Khrimey expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help facilitate His Holiness’s engagement with the Government of India at that time.

Speaking to the media, HSMAP leaders Tarh Tarak and Nima Sangey reaffirmed the commitment of Tibet Support Groups to support the resumption of dialogue on Tibet, uphold the continuation of the centuries-old institution of the Dalai Lama, and keep the Tibetan cause alive in national and international forums.

They also expressed gratitude to the Central Tibetan Administration, the India Tibetan Coordination Office, and the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India and Tibet Support Groups of India for successfully organising the ceremony.

The programme concluded with collective prayers and deep devotion for the long life, good health and continued guidance of the Dalai Lama for the benefit of humanity and world peace.

Several dignitaries from Arunachal Pradesh attended the programme, including MLA and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Alo Libang, and chairpersons of various state government boards, corporations and commissions including Nyamar Karbak, Taba Tedir, Hawa Bagang, Lokam Tassar, Yalem Taga Burang and Nalong Mize.

Former ministers Anok Wangsa and Tanyong Tatak, and several other invitees were also present. Other prominent attendees included Kaling Pertin, Tsering Dolma, chief engineer Ado Burang, businessman Ha Tatu, and Tarik Talom, along with dignitaries and delegates from across the country.
