ITANAGAR, Mar 13: A fire broke out in the cafeteria kitchen of Heema Hospital here on Friday afternoon, reportedly due to an LPG gas leakage, causing panic among staff, patients and attendants. However, no casualties were reported.
According to Itanagar Fire Station officer-in-charge Koj T Gambo, the incident occurred at around 4:30 pm. “The fire originated from the cafeteria due to LPG gas leakage. Immediately after receiving the information, the Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control before it could spread further,” he said.
Gambo said the timely intervention of firefighters and the presence of safety measures at the hospital helped prevent a major disaster.
Medical staff, patients, including pregnant women, and their attendants reportedly rushed out of the hospital building in panic when the fire broke out. Officials confirmed that the situation was brought under control quickly and no injuries were reported.
