Bhalukpong, Mar 13: The 2 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC (2 AP Bn NCC), Tawang, in coordination with the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), is conducting a white water rafting course from March 8 to 17 on the Kameng River near Bhalukpong.
A total of 50 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets are participating in the course. Of them, 30 cadets are from Tawang and West Kameng districts, while the remaining 20 cadets are from various districts of Assam.
During the 10-day training programme, cadets are being introduced to the fundamentals of white water rafting, including the use of rafting equipment, river navigation techniques, safety procedures, rescue drills and identification of river hazards. The training is being conducted under the supervision of trained instructors from NIMAS.
As part of the programme, cadets will also undertake treks to nearby locations such as Phinjuli and surrounding areas, including a visit to a local cave. The itinerary also includes an educational visit to the Tippi Orchid Research Centre.
The course aims to promote adventure, teamwork, leadership and confidence among cadets, while also imparting life skills and raising awareness about environmental conservation through exposure to adventure sports.
