APSCW conducts five-day Jan Sunvai across six districts

ITANAGAR, Mar 16: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) successfully conducted a five-day Jan Sunvai (public hearing) from March 9 to 13 across six districts of the state to address grievances faced by women.

The public hearing programme was organised in accordance with the guidelines of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, and covered Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Pakke Kessang, Leparada, Namsai, and Dibang Valley districts.

During the hearings, several destitute and distressed women approached the Commission seeking counselling and redressal of their grievances. Both new and pending cases were taken up, and a number of complaints were addressed during the sessions.

Officials informed that with the support and cooperation of local police personnel, the programme was conducted smoothly in all the districts.

Advocate Terji Gamlin from the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority also participated in the programme, providing legal assistance and counselling to the complainants regarding their rights and legal remedies.

According to the Commission, a total of 17 cases were disposed of on the spot during the five-day public hearing.

The APSCW further informed the general public that the APSCW continues to address grievances related to women and encourages those facing issues to approach the Commission for assistance and support.
