Dist-Level Prerana Utsav held at JNV Tawang

Tawang, Mar 16: The District-Level Prerana Utsav was successfully organised at the PM SHRI School, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Tawang, on Monday with enthusiastic participation from students representing various secondary and senior secondary schools across the district.

Gracing the programme, Tawang district’s Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE) Hridar Phunshok, in his address, encouraged the students to work hard and become role models in society. “Giving an example is very easy, but becoming an example is very difficult. So, strive to become the example,” he said.

He also urged students to cultivate strong values and leadership qualities and contribute positively to society. Block Education Officer (BEO) Thuptan Wangchu also attended the event.

In his welcome address, Principal of JNV Tawang, ML Meena, highlighted the significance of PRERANA, an experiential learning initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Education. He explained that the programme is conducted at Vadnagar, Gujarat, a historic town known for its rich cultural heritage.

Meena said the PRERANA programme focuses on value-based education, leadership development, cultural understanding and fostering national pride among students. Through activities such as heritage visits, yoga sessions, teamwork and interactive learning exercises, students are encouraged to explore their identity, appreciate India’s cultural diversity and develop a sense of responsibility towards nation-building.

During the programme, school coordinator of the PRERANA programme, Prashant Kumar, explained the structure and activities planned for the day. He also briefed participants on the selection process, evaluation methods and criteria through which the most deserving candidates would be shortlisted.

 total of 610 students from Tawang district had registered online for the programme. Out of them, 80 students were selected to participate in the district-level Prerana Utsav, where they took part in various activities designed to assess leadership qualities, teamwork, communication skills and creativity.

The district-level event aims to select one boy and one girl who will represent Tawang district at the National-Level PRERANA Experiential Learning Programme to be held in Vadnagar, Gujarat. (DIPRO)
