Ziro, Mar 17: Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme convened a preparatory meeting at the District Secretariat here to review arrangements for the upcoming ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’.
The nationwide event, organised under the Ministry of Culture, commemorates 1,000 years since the first attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026 CE.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted plans to host the celebration at Siddheshwar Nath Temple, Kardo, known for housing the world’s tallest natural Shivalinga. She informed that the Governor and Chief Minister are expected to attend, with the final date yet to be confirmed.
Departments were assigned responsibilities to ensure smooth conduct of the event, including arrangements for roads, sanitation, water supply, lighting, medical services, traffic, and security.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Hibu Dumi, District Art & Culture Officer Tapi Rimu, DySP Lod Tari, Chairman of Siddheshwar Nath Temple Committee Nada Buda, along with administrative officers, heads of departments, and ZPMs.
Officials also noted that the event will be observed as a year-long celebration nationwide and will include promotion of Vande Mataram on its 150th anniversary. (DIPRO)
