Kalaktang, Mar 18: An unidentified body of a man, aged around 45–50, was recovered from the Kamalangching River under Kalaktang Police Station in West Kameng district on Monday last.
According to an official communication, the body was discovered at around 6 am, lodged between stones in the middle of the river. Preliminary observations indicate suspected drowning as the cause of death. The deceased is believed to be a non-Arunachalee.
Police described the individual as approximately 5.4 feet tall, with a brownish complexion, and wearing black half pants (boxer) at the time of recovery.
A case has been registered at Kalaktang Police Station under Section 194 of the BNSS, and further investigation is underway, police said.
Authorities have appealed to all police stations and the general public to assist in identifying the deceased. Any missing person reports matching the description are requested to be immediately communicated to the police.
Family members or anyone with relevant information have been urged to come forward to help establish the identity of the deceased and claim the body at the earliest.
