ITANAGAR, Mar 18: A training programme on promotion of improved Citrus production technology was organized by KVK Lower Dibang Valley today. Around 50 farmers and farm women took part in the programme, which started with a welcome address by Dr Deepanjali Deori, Senior Scientist and Head KVK Lower Dibang Valley.
This was followed by the technical session where training on Scientific method for cultivation of orange was given by Dr Nongthambam Devachandra, Assistant Professor, College of Horticulture and Forestry (Department of Fruit Science), Pasighat. He also demonstrated low cost bare foot technique for transport of Citrus and scientific pruning.
Later, the training on diseases and pest infestation and their control measures was given by Toktel Boko, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Lower Dibang Valley, Balek.
Sangeeta Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, Lower Dibang Valley, also interacted with the farmers and gave remedial measures to overcome their problems.
Afterwards, an interaction between the Scientists and Farmers was conducted, followed by distribution of orange seedlings.
The programme ended with a brief speech by Lining Tamut, Farm Manager, KVK Lower Dibang Valley.
