Itanagar, Mar 19: Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC), Tsering Naksang, along with members Dr Limo Ete, Dr Joram Aniya and Secretary Dr AK Tripathy, called on Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan here on Thursday.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the need for strong academic regulation and advised the Commission to ensure transparency and merit-based admissions in private educational institutions. He also called for vigilant monitoring of examinations and research standards to uphold academic integrity.
Stressing the importance of infrastructure, the Governor directed that institutions must comply with prescribed norms and maintain the required facilities to provide a conducive learning environment for students.
Expressing his concern for maintaining academic excellence, Parnaik further urged the Commission to enforce robust quality control in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the State Government, and to regularly review institutional performance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
He also stated that the Commission should not hesitate to initiate corrective measures, including suspension of approvals or even closure of institutions that repeatedly fail to meet national benchmarks and academic standards. Such decisive oversight, he said, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of higher education in the State and ensuring that students receive education that is credible, competitive, and aligned with national expectations.
The APPEIRC members apprised the Governor of various pending issues at the departmental level that require urgent attention, to which he assured necessary follow-up with the concerned authorities for their timely resolution.
