Golden Jubilee Meritorious Students Award 2025 conferred on dist toppers

TAWANG, Mar 19: The Golden Jubilee Meritorious Students Award 2025 was conferred upon district toppers by Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo at a programme held at Govt Town Secondary School here on Thursday.

Altogether, 30 students were felicitated with certificates and trophies, while the cash awards were directly credited to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the awardees and their parents, stating that such achievements reflect dedication, perseverance and strong family support. She lauded parents for their role in nurturing academic excellence and encouraged them to inspire others in the community.

Highlighting the potential of the district’s youth, Angmo noted that many students face challenges due to lack of support, and urged the awardees to consider the recognition as a stepping stone towards greater goals. She encouraged them to work hard, become responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.

Earlier, DDSE Tawang Hridar Phuntso, in his welcome address, urged students to remain grounded and continue striving for excellence, emphasizing that success is built on discipline, consistency and perseverance.

BEO (HQs) Thupten Wangchu spoke on the significance of the award, launched by the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh in 2023 to promote quality education and recognise academic excellence.

Child Welfare Committee chairman Norbu Drema appreciated the initiative and highlighted the committee’s role in safeguarding children’s welfare. She also encouraged students, particularly girls, to speak up against any form of misconduct and urged parents to remain supportive and vigilant.

The programme also featured an interactive session where the DC addressed queries from students and parents on civil services preparation and school-related issues.
