RBI bid to integrate unbanked entrepreneurs into formal banking system

TEZU, Mar 23: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Itanagar conducted a townhall meeting on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Tezu in Lohit district today.

The objective of the meeting was to integrate unbanked entrepreneurs into the formal banking system and foster a two-way communication among the entrepreneurs, bankers, and other stakeholders.

The event was chaired by Abhijit Majumdar, GM, RBI, and attended by Sotailum Belai, ADC Lohit; Obang Mibang, Deputy RCS; Kamal Roy, AGM (District Development), NABARD; OjingTaboh, Lead District Manager, various bank officials, officials of ArSRLM, Moneywise CRISIL, SHG members and entrepreneurs from Tezu and nearby places.

Welcoming the participants, Majumdar explained the significance of MSMEs in development of local economy and job creation. He spoke about the PM’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He stated that credit discipline should be maintained by entrepreneurs for availing various government subsidy schemes.

In his keynote address, ADC Belai exhorted the participants, especially youths, to take benefit of various government schemes.

Mibang updated the forum regarding cooperative developments in Lohit district.

Roy explained to the gathering about different schemes of NABARD for rural youth, women and MSME entrepreneurs.

Manager RBI Itanagar undertook a session on RBI guidelines for MSME and key features of various Central and State government schemes such as PMEGP, MUDRA, CGTMSE, PMFME, PM Vishwakarma and DDUSY.

RBI Itanagar also conducted an on-spot online survey for entrepreneurs to understand their needs and challenges. The same were discussed and addressed during the meeting. Participants appreciated the efforts of RBI, Itanagar for conducting the townhall meeting and expressed desire that such events may be conducted on a regular basis for MSME entrepreneurs.
