DWS counters proposed 132 KV tower-based transmission line

ITANAGAR, Mar 24: The Dulom Welfare Society (DWS) has expressed opposition to the proposed construction of a 132 KV tower-based transmission line passing through four villages Nima, Linko, Sikarijo and Dulom in Upper Subansiri district.

“The society has repeatedly approached the district administration both verbally and through written representations, but no action has been initiated so far,” said DWS chairman, Jeegiam Lamdik, while addressing reporters at the APC here today.

Clarifying that the society is not against development, the society chief alleged that the concerned authorities failed to conduct any public hearing or consultation with the Head Gaon Burahs (HGBs) prior to initiating the project.

He stated that the proposed transmission line poses potential risks to local residents and infrastructure, including Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya, as the alignment reportedly passes through the middle of the four villages.

Lamdik informed that during a recent mass meeting, it was unanimously resolved to oppose the project unless their concerns are addressed.

The DWS further stressed that implementation of the project would hamper the ancestral environmental and ecological balance of the villages, which require careful consideration and re-alignment of the routes.
