ITANAGAR, Mar 24: The NCC Unit of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), under 1 AP Battalion NCC, organized an Inter-College NCC Festival titled ‘Shaurya 2026’, drawing participation from leading institutions of the Itanagar Capital Complex, including Rajiv Gandhi University, Rajiv Gandhi Govt Polytechnic, Govt College Doimukh, and Dera Natung Govt College.
The festival witnessed a series of competitive and cultural events such as Squad Drill and Guard of Honour, along with literary activities including slogan writing, extempore, poetry and essay competitions, besides thematic dance performances. The events reflected the discipline, coordination, and leadership qualities of NCC cadets while also providing a platform for creative expression and intellectual engagement.
Prof Narendranath S, Director NERIST, graced the event as chief guest, while Col Samudra Vijay Sharma, Commanding Officer 1 AP Bn NCC, as guest of honour, along with Deans, HoDs, faculty members from NERIST and PI staff from 1 AP Bn NCC. In their addresses, they appreciated the efforts of the cadets and emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and national service.
The festival was efficiently coordinated by the NERIST NCC unit under the guidance of CTO (SD) Dr Aswini Kumar Patra and CTO(SW) Prof Bhagyalakshmi Narayanapuram. Senior cadets played a pivotal role in the smooth conduct of the event, with SUO Suman Mallick leading the overall coordination and ensuring the seamless conduct of major events, and UO Sayandip Debnath, UO Hemant Gautam, former SUOs Biren Pradhan, Aarav Gupta, former UO Sandeep Chetry and UO Thsorilu Wezah playing crucial roles in organizing competitions, managing cadet participation, and maintaining discipline throughout the festival.
The successful conduct of “Shaurya 2026” highlighted the spirit of unity and cooperation among NCC cadets and reinforced the role of such platforms in nurturing responsible and capable youth.
