L/Siang celebrates 150 years of Vande Mataram at Dipa village

LIKABALI, Mar 26: Lower Siang district joined the rest of the nation in celebrating the 150 years of Vande Mataram - the National Song of India phase 3.

A program was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Information & Public Relations (IPR), Lower Siang, and the District Art & Culture Department under the guidance of district administration at the Freedom Fighters’ commemorative High Mast National Flag Podium built in honour of the Freedom Fighter Lt Moje Riba at Dipa village in the district today.

The event was graced by the ZPM Likabali Karbi Nyodu Taipodia as chief guest, accompanied by Augusti Jamoh, DACO-cum-DIPRO, along with Gaon Burahs (GBs), Panchayat members, and villagers. The gathering paid homage to freedom fighter Moje Riba, remembering his invaluable contributions to the nation.

Addressing the gathering, the ZPM urged citizens—especially the youth—to uphold the values of nationalism and actively contribute towards nation building. She further appealed to all parents to ensure that their children learn the National Song, stressing that it should be accorded the same respect and importance as the National Anthem.

During the programme, Jamoh highlighted the historical significance of Vande Mataram and its pivotal role in inspiring India’s freedom movement. He emphasized the importance of fostering patriotism, unity, and a deeper understanding of the nation’s rich cultural heritage. He also encouraged participants to upload selfies and take part in singing the national song through the official platform as part of the nationwide campaign.

The programme also included an interaction with media representatives during which key messages regarding the preservation and promotion of the legacy of Vande Mataram were shared.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge among participants to strengthen unity, integrity, and harmony in society.
