PASIGHAT, Mar 27: The 19th NCORD review meeting held at Pasighat today reiterated the vital role of community participation in building a drug-free East Siang.
Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani, who chaired the monthly meeting at the DC’s office conference hall, emphasized that grassroots initiatives and active community support are key to strengthening the efforts of the District Administration, as local communities have a deeper understanding of ground realities.
The DC also asked for a strong action by Police & Excise departments for joint patrolling and checking at inter-state border checkpoints in view of the implementation of MCC (Model Code of Conduct) for the ensuing Assembly elections in neighbouring Assam.
“We are committed to creating greater awareness through community participation so that our collective tireless efforts toward a better and brighter future for our youth and coming generations bear fruits,” the DC said.
During the review meeting, the DC also assessed the progress made by various stakeholder departments in skilling recovering youth in different trades under Project Arohi Initiative of the East Siang District Administration. Enforcement actions carried out under the Excise Act, adherence and registration under SOP guidelines, drug awareness campaign under VADA by the East Siang Police and the implementation of various measures and miscellaneous issues were thoroughly reviewed with respective nodal officers.
