Operational Group meet reviews security, boosts inter-agency synergy in Northeast

Itanagar, Jan 30: A Quarterly Operational Group meeting was convened under the aegis of the Spear Corps and the Directorate General of Assam Rifles at Lekhapani on Monday, bringing together key security stakeholders to review the prevailing security situation and strengthen inter-agency coordination across Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh, and adjoining areas of Nagaland.

The meeting was attended by senior representatives from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, State Police, and Intelligence Agencies. Among those present was Hibu Tamang, IGP (Ops), TCL Region, along with formation commanders of Assam Rifles, Army officials from Upper Assam, and senior police officers from the participating states.

Discussions focused on a comprehensive assessment of ground intelligence, enhancement of real-time information sharing, and alignment of operational priorities. Deliberations covered key areas of concern including insurgent activities, cross-border dynamics, and the need to strengthen surveillance and area domination in vulnerable pockets.

In view of the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, special emphasis was laid on maintaining heightened vigilance and ensuring a secure environment to prevent any disruption to the electoral process.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of a cohesive joint operational framework, improved interoperability, and streamlined coordination protocols for swift and effective response to contingencies.

All agencies underscored the importance of continuous adaptation, joint training, and a unified operational approach, reflecting strong synergy and professionalism among the security forces.
