Itanagar, Apr 1: Arunachal Pradesh Lok Bhavan on Wednesday celebrated the State Foundation Days of Odisha, Bihar, and Mizoram, bringing together a vibrant confluence of cultures and communities.
Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik, along with his wife Anagha Parnaik, joined people from the three states residing in Arunachal Pradesh, marking the occasion with enthusiasm and cultural fervour.
In his address, the Governor appreciated the people of Odisha and Bihar for their valuable contributions to education, administration, and business in the State, while commending Mizoram for achieving near-universal literacy, calling it an inspiring benchmark for the nation.
He lauded participants for showcasing their rich cultural heritage and preserving their traditions even while living away from their home states, noting that such efforts strengthen unity and mutual respect.
Referring to the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor described it as a guiding force in reinforcing India’s unity in diversity and expressed confidence that continued cultural exchange would help eliminate racial discrimination.
Calling upon the people of Odisha, Bihar, and Mizoram to contribute actively to the vision of a Viksit Bharat, he emphasised the pivotal role of eastern states in advancing the country’s Act East Policy.
Adding a special touch to the celebration, children from Oju Mission, Naharlagun attended the programme as special guests, enhancing the spirit of inclusiveness.
The cultural segment featured vibrant performances, including Odisha’s patriotic song “Vande Utkal Janani” and folk performances such as ‘Mo Jaga Kalia Re’ and ‘Mati Re Mati Re’, lively Bhojpuri and Maithili dances from Bihar, including ‘Kaile Khele Jaibu Sawan Me Kajariya’, ‘Tor Mathe Ke Bindiya’, and ‘Gor Dehiya Pe Laal Laal Sadi’, and the traditional Cheraw dance performed by Mizo students of NERIST, reflecting the rich diversity of Indian culture.
The Governor later hosted a ‘high tea’ and interacted with guests and participants, fostering a sense of unity and shared belonging.
