PASIGHAT, Apr 2: In a proud and historic achievement for Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Richa Nyodu has become the first from the state to successfully complete an Advanced Fellowship in Vitreo Retina, Uvea, and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Services from Dr Shroff Charity Eye Hospital, one of India’s premier centres for advanced eye care and research.
Dr Nyodu completed her MBBS from North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences and pursued her post-graduation in Ophthalmology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal, where she earned recognition for academic excellence and clinical expertise.
She has made notable contributions to ophthalmic research, with several peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals such as the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and TVST. Her research interests include retinal imaging, vitreoretinal diseases, uveitis, and cataract surgery outcomes.
Clinically, she has gained extensive experience in managing retina, uveitis, and ROP cases, and is proficient in advanced diagnostic techniques including OCT, FFA, ICGA, OCTA, and FAF. She has independently performed multiple vitreoretinal surgeries, treating complex conditions such as retinal detachment, macular hole, diabetic retinopathy, and endophthalmitis.
Her excellence has been recognised through several awards at national platforms, including Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, AIIMS, and conferences of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society. She has also presented research papers and posters at various national ophthalmology conferences.
Driven by a commitment to serve her home state, Dr Nyodu has returned to Arunachal Pradesh and received a warm welcome at Donyi Polo Airport by well-wishers and members of her community.
She is set to begin her services in Itanagar, bringing advanced expertise and a vision to strengthen eye-care services in the state. Her journey stands as an inspiration for aspiring medical professionals and reflects a deep commitment to excellence and service.
