16 MoUs inked at Namsai summit; Sona urges sustainable investments

Itanagar, Apr 3: The Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), in collaboration with the Indian Industries Association (IIA), on Friday hosted a Business Conference and Arunachal Investors’ Summit at its Namsai campus, marking a significant push towards industry-academia collaboration and sustainable economic growth.

The summit was inaugurated by Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona in the presence of local MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong, AUS Chairman Ashwani Lochan, Vice-Chancellor Ajeya Jha, IIA President Dinesh Goyal, and Senior Vice President Alok Agarwal.

Addressing the gathering, Sona emphasised the need to promote green and sustainable industries in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that investments must generate livelihoods while safeguarding the environment. He invited entrepreneurs to explore the state’s vast potential and assured government support for industrial initiatives.

MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom described the summit as a valuable platform for entrepreneurs, while Wanglin Lowangdong highlighted the immense potential for industrial growth driven by the state’s natural resources.

A major highlight of the summit was the signing of 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the University-Industry Interlinkage Centre (UILC) of AUS and IIA member industries, aimed at fostering innovation, strengthening collaboration, and creating new opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs.

The event witnessed participation from over 50 industries from Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring Assam, indicating growing investor interest in the region.

During the programme, Dr Ashwani Lochan was also announced as the President of the Arunachal Pradesh Chapter of IIA in recognition of his contributions to the educational sector.

Three plenary sessions were held on key themes including “Catalysing India’s Educational Transformation: Industry-Academia Synergy for Employability, Sustainable Growth, and Leadership Excellence”; “From Potential to Profit: Investor Pathways in the North East”; and “Financing Sustainable Rural Enterprises in the North East: Catalysing Pathways for Inclusive Growth, Employability and Investment.”

Reaffirming its vision, AUS stated that it will continue to serve as a bridge between investors and entrepreneurs, promoting innovation, employment, and sustainable development across the region.
