CM Khandu lauds joint operation in capturing rogue elephants

Itanagar, Apr 6: Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended the successful tranquilization and capture of two rogue elephants responsible for human casualties in recent past, describing the operation as a remarkable example of coordination, courage, and professionalism.

The Chief Minister noted that such large-scale operations in challenging forest terrain require not only technical expertise but also immense dedication and risk-taking on the ground. He highlighted the joint efforts of the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department, a Karnataka-based expert team, and key institutions including the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the Wildlife Institute of India.

Khandu also underscored the effective use of advanced technologies such as AI-enabled thermal drones, stating that modern tools are playing a crucial role in strengthening wildlife management and ensuring human safety.

He expressed appreciation for the officers, veterinarians, technical experts, and field staff involved in the mission, noting that such decisive and scientifically managed actions help safeguard human lives while ensuring responsible handling of wildlife.
