ITANAGAR, Apr 7: The Jan Andolan Anti Corruption Movement, Arunachal Pradesh, has welcomed the recent directive of the Supreme Court of India ordering a preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the alleged irregular allotment of public contracts.

Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club here on Tuesday, the organisation’s chairman Nabam Tagam said the group supports the inquiry and is willing to assist the premier investigating agency with documents related to the alleged irregularities.

He stated that the apex court’s directive reflects concern over issues such as corruption, nepotism, and alleged misuse of power. The organisation also demanded that Chief Minister Pema Khandu step down on moral grounds to ensure a free and fair inquiry.

Tagam further said that an impartial probe by the CBI could help address corruption concerns in the state and strengthen public confidence in governance.

The organisation reiterated its call for transparency and accountability, urging that the investigation be conducted without any hindrance to uphold democratic principles and the rule of law.
