ITANAGAR, Apr 7: A two-day International Conference on Recent Advances in Materials and Emerging Applications (RAMEA 2026), organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (NERIST), drew to a successful close on Tuesday.
The valedictory session was graced by Director NERIST Prof Narendranath S as chief guest. Prof Sarsing Gao, Dean (Academic), attended as guest of honour and Prof M B Sharma, Dean (R&D), as special guest. The session was also attended by other Deans, faculty members, and delegates from across the country.
The Convenor of the conference, Dr Santosh Kumar Tamang presented a comprehensive report of the event. He highlighted that the conference witnessed an overwhelming response, with 169 oral presentations and 36 poster presentations by researchers from various parts of the country.
During the valedictory session, awards were presented to outstanding poster contributions. Anuja Chatterjee of Jadavpur University (JU) won the top honour, while the second prize went to Anwesha Mukherjee, also of Jadavpur University, while the third prize was bagged by Partha Surajit Bhuyan from NERIST. Their works were appreciated for their novelty, scientific merit, and potential societal impact.
In his address, Dr Tamang emphasized that the primary objective of organizing RAMEA 2026 was to create a vibrant platform for students and researchers, particularly from the Northeastern region, to showcase their talents and engage in application-oriented research. He further stated that such initiatives not only promote academic excellence but also contribute meaningfully to societal development.
The conference successfully brought together academicians, researchers, and industry professionals, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of advanced materials and emerging technologies.
