Itanagar, Apr 9: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and General Officer Commanding (GOC), 4 Corps, Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla, separately called on State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik at Bumla Cottage in Tawang on Wednesday, discussing key issues related to governance, development, and security.
During his meeting with the Governor, the Chief Minister held detailed discussions on the ongoing Deputy Commissioners’ Conference in Tawang, focusing on its agenda, expected outcomes, and the importance of district-level governance in accelerating development.
The Governor, who will address the conference on April 10, expressed confidence that the deliberations would be purposeful and outcome-oriented, leading to actionable steps towards the vision of a “Viksit Arunachal.” He emphasized the role of Deputy Commissioners as a crucial link between the government and the people, urging them to adopt practical, district-specific solutions for balanced and inclusive development.
The meeting also reviewed the overall development scenario of the state, with emphasis on strengthening infrastructure and improving service delivery in key sectors such as health, education, and rural development.
The leaders stressed timely implementation of projects and addressing governance gaps, while also discussing land management, employment generation, and capacity building.
In a separate meeting, Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla apprised the Governor of issues concerning troop welfare, morale, and operational preparedness, while highlighting the importance of seamless coordination with the civil administration.
The Governor underscored the importance of maintaining strong ties between the armed forces and local communities, and encouraged continued synergy between the Army and civil authorities. He also assured full support from the civil administration whenever required.
Highlighting the Vibrant Village Programme, he stressed collaborative efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve living conditions in remote border areas.
Lt Gen Shukla, who assumed command on April 1, reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining high operational readiness while fostering goodwill and deeper engagement with local communities.
