ITANAGAR, Apr 9: The Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA), Itanagar Capital Region, in collaboration with ATA's Central Executive Committee, will organise a candlelight vigilance on Friday to honour the memory of Late Yapi Potom and demand justice in her killing.
A junior teacher at Government Secondary School, Chimpu, Potom's recent killing has sent shockwaves across the state.
The peaceful rally will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm, beginning at Akashdeep Complex and concluding at the tennis court in IG Park. The event is expected to witness participation from teachers, students, and citizens, who will march in silence as a mark of respect and solidarity.
The teaching fraternity has described the incident as a major loss to the academic community and called for urgent measures to ensure the safety of educators. Through the vigil, the association aims to press for swift and stringent action against those responsible.
Participants will carry candles symbolising remembrance and the lasting impact of the late teacher’s contributions, while also voicing a collective demand for justice.
The association has urged authorities to maintain transparency in the investigation and ensure that the legal process is expedited. While reports indicate progress in the case, the ATA has reiterated its demand for the highest level of punishment for the perpetrators.
