Month-long ‘Lakli Ponam Training Program’ begins

YINGKIONG, Apr 9: A one-month Lakli Ponam Training Programme under the Department of Handicrafts & Industries was inaugurated today at Yingkiong with great enthusiasm and participation from local artisans.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Naatek Nonang, ADC Yingkiong, who graced the occasion as chief guest, while Toni Mitkong, SDO Yingkiong, attended as guest of honour.

Lakli Ponam is a traditional craft practised by Adi women, known for producing items such as Lakli Nyogon (bags) and Sapjung (fishing traps), which are locally made using indigenous techniques.
