TCS president stresses preservation of Tagin dialect

Daporijo, Apr 9: Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) president Larji Rigia on Thursday emphasized the need to preserve and promote the Tagin dialect to safeguard indigenous traditions and cultural identity.

Addressing the gathering at the 2nd general conference of the Bagang Welfare Society in Daporijo, Rigia said language plays a vital role in protecting cultural heritage and urged the community to take active steps towards its preservation.

He also highlighted the importance of communal harmony, calling for unity and mutual respect among different communities across the state.

During the programme, the Bagang Welfare Society felicitated students for their outstanding performances in academics and various state-level competitive examinations. The initiative aimed to encourage young achievers and promote educational excellence within the community.

The conference witnessed participation from several clan-based organisations from across the district, who extended their support to the event. Members of the society attended the inaugural day in vibrant traditional attire, adding cultural richness to the occasion.

The three-day event will include discussions on key social issues and matters concerning the overall development of the society. Cultural programmes and interactive sessions are also scheduled, making the conference a blend of tradition, dialogue, and community engagement.
