ABCC 18th annual general assembly concludes at Pasighat

Pasighat, Apr 12: The 18th annual general assembly of the Arunachal Baptist Church Council (ABCC) concluded here on Sunday after three days of spiritual deliberations, cultural exchange and institutional proceedings.

Hosted by the Adi Baptist Union, the assembly was held from April 10 to 12 under the theme “Christ and the Broken World,” inspired by the Biblical passage John 20:21.

Key speakers included Rev Dr Namseng R Marak, general secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India, and ABCC president John Padung. Rev Wati Longkumer participated as the resource person, while James Techi Tara participated as a special invitee.

During the assembly, new office bearers of the council were formally installed, while outgoing honorary officers were accorded farewell in recognition of their dedicated service.

Informing about the scale of participation, ABCC general secretary Rev Tugaso Manyu said that over 500 delegates representing 19 Baptist associations from across Arunachal Pradesh took part in the programme. The event also featured vibrant cultural presentations by different tribes, reflecting the unity in diversity within the Christian community of the state.

Deliberations focused on contemporary societal issues such as injustice, inequality, violence and moral uncertainty with speakers emphasizing the teachings of Christ as a guiding force for compassion, peace and reconciliation.

The three-day congregation concluded on a note of spiritual renewal, with participants reaffirming their collective commitment to strengthening faith, unity and service in society.
