Engineers XI crowned winner of East Siang Cric-League 2026

PASIGHAT, Apr 16: Engineers XI emerged as the winner of the East Siang Cric-League 2026, defeating Yamne Odum Cricket Club in a closely contested final at the DDSE playground here today.

Organized by Siang Panthers, the tournament concluded with an exciting match that drew a large number of spectators, highlighting the growing popularity of cricket in the district.

Engineers XI put up a strong all-round performance, contributing to their victory. Despite a determined effort by Yamne Odum Cricket Club, they were unable to defend the target set by them.

The winners (Engineers XI) received a cash prize of Rs 80,000, while the runners-up (Yamne Odum Cricket Club) got Rs 40,000.

Individual awards were presented to outstanding performers of the tournament. Nabam Dol was named Player of the Tournament, while Olik Tadeng received the Best Bowler award. Dado Tachung was adjudged Best Batsman for scoring 185 runs in two matches. Sokhiyam Korah was declared Man of the Match for his crucial performance in the final.

The tournament concluded on a positive note, promoting sports culture and providing a platform for local talent in East Siang district.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Gomle Ratan (chief guest) appreciated the organizers for successfully conducting the tournament despite limited resources.

Johny Taggu (guest of honour) said that the tournament has seen significant improvement over the years. He also highlighted that organizing the tournament every year encourages sportsmanship.
