Three-day training for Enumerators & Supervisors begins in L/Siang

LIKABALI, Apr 16: A three-day training programme for Enumerators and Supervisors for the Houselisting and Housing Census 2027 commenced at the Circuit House here in Lower Siang district today.

This first phase of the programme aims to equip field-level functionaries with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required for the successful conduct of Census 2027. The sessions include both theoretical inputs and hands-on training, focusing on key aspects such as census concepts, legal provisions, data collection methodologies, and the use of the HLO (Houselisting Operations) mobile application.

The programme was attended by Gobi Nyicyor, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Principal Census Officer, Lower Siang; Narendra Das, Observer for Census 2027 (Lower Siang district); Janes Mary Tayeng, ADC-cum-Sub-Divisional Census Officer; Noor Pertin, CO-cum-Charge Officer; T Potom, ADES-cum-Additional District Census Officer; along with supervisors and enumerators.

Addressing the participants, the DC urged enumerators and supervisors to clearly communicate the importance and purpose of the Population Census to villagers. He emphasized that no individual should be left out during the houselisting and housing census process, especially elderly persons and newborns. He called for utmost diligence to ensure complete and accurate coverage of every household and resident.

He further instructed all officers/officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Government for Census 2027. Stressing the significance of compliance with prescribed procedures and protocols, he highlighted that such adherence is essential to maintain the accuracy, credibility, and integrity of the census exercise.

Day 1 began with an introductory session and an overview of Census 2027, followed by discussions on the legal aspects of the census and methodologies for training enumerators and supervisors.

Participants were introduced to fundamental census concepts and definitions, along with effective techniques for engagement in Enumeration and Survey (E&S) processes. The day concluded with sessions on ground-truthing of HLB boundaries and the preparation of layout maps.
