Itanagar, Apr 20: The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) on Monday organised a foot march in Itanagar demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and calling for a free and fair inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into alleged irregularities in the award of contract works.

Hundreds of youths participated in the rally, carrying banners and placards with slogans against the Chief Minister. The march commenced from Akashdeep market in Ganga and culminated at the Tennis Court in IG Park, where a public meeting was held.

Addressing the gathering, ACS chairman Byabang Joram alleged that contract works worth around Rs 1,270 crore were awarded to a firm linked to the Chief Minister’s family over the past few years. He stated that the movement would continue until the Chief Minister tenders his resignation, asserting that stepping down would ensure a fair and impartial investigation.

Joram said the ACS welcomes a CBI probe and urged the government to fully cooperate to uphold transparency and accountability in governance. He further maintained that, given the scale of the alleged contracts, the CM should resign on moral grounds to facilitate an unbiased inquiry.
