Itanagar, Apr 21: A study visit of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee (DRPSC) on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports (EWCY&S) was held in Itanagar on Tuesday.
The committee is chaired by Digvijaya Singh, Member of Parliament, who is leading a delegation of nine other members on the visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, the committee visited the National Centre of Excellence under the Sports Authority of India at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy, Chimpu, to assess sports infrastructure and training facilities.
Later, the committee held a meeting with officials and stakeholders from sectors including education, women and child development, youth affairs, and sports here at Donyi Polo International Hotel.
Representatives from the Department of Sports, Government of India, Department of Sports, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, public sector undertakings such as NHPC Limited, North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), along with officials from the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Rajiv Gandhi University, Directorate of Research, and Directorate of Cultural Affairs, participated in the deliberations.
The discussions focused on reviewing ongoing initiatives, challenges, and opportunities in the sectors under the committee’s purview, reports DIPR.
The delegation later visited the scenic Ziro Valley, where members praised its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The committee described the valley as a jewel of the Northeast and highlighted its immense potential for tourism and youth engagement, according to reports from DIPRO Ziro.
