‘Actively involve PR members in dev & welfare activities’: Leparada ZPC

BASAR, Apr 21: In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance and inter-departmental coordination, the first-ever coordination-cum-interaction meeting with all newly elected ZPMs of Leparada district and HoDs was convened at the DC’s office conference hall here today.

The meeting was chaired by Leparada ADC-cum-DPDO Ejum Angu alongside Leparada ZPC Nyamar Riba.

The meeting witnessed the participation of ZPMs - Api Gadi (7-Tirbin), Bomjar Doke (7A-Tirbin), Iter Bam (11A-Basar), Karnya Bam Chiram (12A-Dari). Heads of various line departments such as Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), Veterinary, Rural Development, ICDS, Education, Fisheries, etc and also Heads from several works departments such as PWD, RWD, PHED, Electrical, participated in the meeting.

District Nodal Officer (PR) Bomli Basar presented an overview of Panchayati Raj activities in the district and also showcased audio-visual ‘success stories’ achieved under SOR grants during FY 2025-26.

Subsequently, all departmental heads through detailed PPTs highlighting Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and flagship programmes undertaken by the respective departments, aimed at familiarizing the newly elected PRI leaders with the knowledge about various schemes, ongoing initiatives and their implementation status. Works departments also provided updates on ongoing developmental projects being executed across the district.

During the interactive session, ZPM Doke on behalf of ZPMs, emphasized the need for continued cooperation from all departments.

ZPM Gadi stressed the importance of keeping elected PRI members informed about government schemes and also involving them in all such activities and projects to ensure effective coordination at the grassroots level.

In his concluding remarks, the ZPC stressed the need for transparency, coordination and teamwork between PRIs and government departments in executing development programmes.

Highlighting his vision of transforming PRIs into ‘model’ governance bodies, he urged the departments to actively involve PR representatives in all developmental and welfare activities. He further called upon works departments to maintain prior communication with PRI leaders before initiating projects to ensure proper monitoring and timely resolution of issues.

Lauding the initiative, the ZPC advocated for organizing such coordination meetings on a timely basis to enhance knowledge-sharing and bridge gaps between PRI members and government departments.
