Tato, Apr 22: The Shi Yomi District Administration has launched an extensive awareness campaign to encourage public participation in the ongoing self-enumeration process under the Census 2027 exercise, while also initiating training for supervisors and enumerators for the upcoming House Listing phase.
Emphasising the importance of accurate data for governance and development planning, several public representatives, officials and community leaders have appealed to citizens to complete their self-enumeration responsibly and within the stipulated time.
Education Minister and local MLA P D Sona urged residents to treat self-enumeration as a civic duty, stating that reliable census data is essential for equitable distribution of resources and effective implementation of government schemes.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tanya Rinya highlighted the role of community participation and called upon grassroots stakeholders to spread awareness and assist households in completing the process.
Deputy Commissioner Tunnge Loya, in his message, described self-enumeration as a simple and citizen-friendly initiative aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy in data collection. He encouraged residents to make use of digital platforms to ensure correct and timely submission of their details. Superintendent of Police S K Thongdok also extended support, assuring necessary assistance to ensure a smooth and secure enumeration process across the district.
Adding momentum to the campaign, noted athlete Joti Mane appealed to the youth to actively participate, stating that responsible citizenship begins with contributing to national exercises like the Census.
Meanwhile, preparations for the forthcoming House Listing Operation have begun with a three-day training programme for enumerators and supervisors across the district. The training aims to equip field staff with the necessary skills for accurate data collection, effective use of digital tools, and adherence to prescribed guidelines.
The administration underscored that the role of trained personnel is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the Census and directed all concerned officials to attend the training diligently.
Reiterating its commitment, the district administration assured that the Census 2027 exercise would be conducted in a smooth, transparent, and efficient manner. (DIPRO)
