In a thrust to grassroots governance, East Siang gets DPRC

Pasighat holds a special place as PRIs birthplace: MLA Soki

PASIGHAT, Apr 22: Aimed at giving a thrust to grassroots governance, the District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC) of East Siang district was set in motion here today, with Daporijo MLA-cum-Advisor to Minister PR & RD Taniya Soki inaugurating the facility.

The infrastructure project (DPRC building) has been raised under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), a Centrally Sponsored Programme.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries, including local MLA Tapi Darang, East Siang ZPC Ruth Tabing Boko and Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani, highlighted the importance of the DPRC as a centre for capacity building and data management to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions.

They emphasized that the facility would play a key role in improving planning, implementation, and monitoring of rural development programmes.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Soki stated that Pasighat holds a special place as the birthplace of Panchayati Raj Institutions, recalling the contributions of Late Daying Ering. He further noted that the DPRC would promote digital education and empower Gram Sabha members.

The programme witnessed active participation from ZPMs, Gram Panchayat Chairpersons (GPCs) and other stakeholders. (DIPRO)
