Poshan Pakhwada 2026 concludes in L/Siang dist on a high note

LIKABALI, Apr 23: The 8th Poshan Pakhwada 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and active participation by Self Help Groups (SHGs) and villagers across Gensi block in Lower Siang district.

As part of the celebration, a Traditional Recipe Contest showcasing local nutritious cuisines was organized by the Lune Bane Model Cluster Level Federation (MCLF), Gensi block, in collaboration with the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission. The program brought together community members, women entrepreneurs, and local leaders on a common platform to promote indigenous food practices and nutritional well-being.

The event was graced by Tadam Zirdo, ZPM Gensi, Kombi Tao, Vice Principal GHSS Gensi, and Dr Tabi Nguba, Medical Officer Gensi.

Setting the tone for the program, Ilu Basar (SISD I/c, ArSRLM) highlighted the significance of this year’s Poshan Pakhwada theme and emphasized the importance of community-driven efforts in improving nutrition outcomes.

In his address, Tadam Zirdo applauded the efforts of ArSRLM officials and SHG members, especially women, for organizing such a meaningful initiative. He emphasized that programs like Poshan Pakhwada are essential in addressing nutritional and health challenges at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Tabi Nguba underlined the critical importance of maternal and child nutrition. He informed participants about the availability of free medicines at health centers and stressed the importance of early childhood stimulation (0–3 years) for proper brain development. He also cautioned against excessive screen time among children and adults, noting its adverse effects, including speech delays in young children.

Kombi Tao delivered an insightful address on the role of discipline, respect, and consistent parental guidance in shaping young minds. She emphasized the value of positive actions and good conduct, illustrating her points with relatable real-life examples.

A key highlight of the program was the ceremonial disbursement of financial assistance amounting to Rs 27.20 lakh under the PMFME Scheme by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, implemented through ArSRLM, GoAP. The support was extended to 18 SHGs and 3 individual beneficiaries to strengthen their existing ventures and promote local entrepreneurship.

The celebration concluded on a high note, leaving participants inspired and more aware of the importance of nutrition, health, and sustainable community practices. (DIPRO)
