DC reviews functioning of ZH Aalo, urges faster infrastructure completion

Aalo, Apr 24: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Mindo Loyi visited the Zonal Hospital Aalo on Friday to assess its functioning and infrastructure.

During the visit, he observed that only three General Duty Medical Officers are managing both emergency and outpatient services, highlighting the strain on existing manpower. The hospital is also facing challenges due to the incomplete construction of 60-bedded and 30-bedded buildings.

Medical Superintendent Dr Karken Rina informed that once completed, the new facilities will be equipped with modern infrastructure and adequate staffing, significantly improving healthcare services.

The Deputy Commissioner directed implementing agencies and contractors to expedite the pending works, noting that the original tender period has expired and projects are currently under extension.

He also assured that the Urban Development Department would ensure regular lifting of medical waste at least four days a week following proper segregation. The need for additional sanitation staff for key units such as the dialysis centre and operation theatre was also highlighted.

Despite staff shortages, the hospital continues to serve patients from Shi-Yomi, Leparada, Lower Siang and adjoining districts. The administration is awaiting completion of infrastructure to install the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s Skill Laboratories for improved services.

The DC further instructed the hospital authorities to maintain cleanliness within the premises. Later, he visited the Bagra Circle Office and directed officials to remain present at their respective posting places to ensure uninterrupted public service. (DIPRO)
