ITANAGAR, Apr 25: An awareness and kit distribution programme for workers was organised at the Capital Electrical Division Office premises here by the Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh (BMS) in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The programme witnessed participation of over 300 employees, including workers, linemen, wiremen and staff of the Electrical Department. The awareness session focused on issues concerning the safety, security and welfare of workers. Participants were encouraged to register with the Board to avail benefits under various schemes.
BMS State president Ringu Chapo, general secretary Donik Talling and other trade union leaders attended the programme. Executive Engineer (CED) Tadar Radhe, who served as the resource person, spoke on the importance of serving the department and society with honesty and sincerity, while upholding the dignity of labour. Registering Officer of the Board, Koj Kano, briefed the workers on the benefits of registration and urged them to enrol to access welfare schemes.
As part of the programme, essential items such as raincoats, umbrellas and other kits were distributed among workers, particularly for use during the rainy season. Registration cards were also handed over to newly registered workers under the Board. The organisers appealed to the community to respect and uphold the dignity of labour while ensuring greater awareness and participation in welfare initiatives.
