RRU Pasighat hosts interactive session on Army life, travel and personal growth

Itanagar, Apr 30: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Pasighat Campus, organised an engaging interactive session titled “From Barracks to Backpacks – Journey of an Army Traveloholic”, featuring Col Ashish Raisinghani of the Border Roads Organisation as the keynote speaker. The session brought together students, faculty, and staff for an enriching conversation on life in uniform, leadership, adeventure, travel, and cultural learning.

Sharing his journey, Col Raisinghani reflected on his formative years as a cadet, highlighting how discipline, resilience, teamwork, and a sense of national service shaped his personality and career. He offered students a glimpse into the rigours of military training and the life lessons derived from it.

He also spoke extensively about his experiences in the Armed Forces and the Border Roads Organisation, where personnel often operate in remote regions and challenging terrains. He noted that such experiences not only build courage and responsibility but also foster a deeper appreciation for the country’s diverse cultures and communities.

Beyond his military career, Col. Raisinghani shared his experiences as an avid traveller who has explored several countries. He described travel as a means of self-discovery and learning, rather than mere recreation, and emphasised the value of connecting with local cultures and people.

Adding a literary dimension, he spoke about his book “Confessions of a Traveloholic”, a collection of travelogues based on his journeys across India and abroad. The book highlights experiential travel, focusing on local cultures, food, and authentic interactions, while also offering practical insights into trip planning, budget travel, trekking, and exploring lesser-known destinations.

He also encouraged students to embrace budget travelling and backpacking, sharing practical tips on travelling light, planning affordable trips, and engaging with local communities. He highlighted the role of youth hostels in promoting safe and economical travel experiences.

The session concluded with an interactive segment where students raised questions on military life, travel, and personal development. The programme inspired participants to adopt values of discipline, curiosity, and openness to new experiences.

The event reflected the university’s commitment to holistic education by providing platforms for students to learn from real-life experiences in service, leadership, and exploration.
