ITANAGAR, May 2: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik presented the prestigious ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ medallion for excellence to Manami Moyir Gamlin at Lok Bhavan here on Friday.
A student of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Nirjuli, Manami was honoured for her outstanding dedication and achievements in Indian classical dance.
Commending her talent, the Governor lauded her graceful performances and commitment to preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. He noted that she has excelled in classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, while also showcasing versatility in folk traditions like Lavani.
Describing her as a reflection of the creative potential of Arunachal’s youth, the Governor said Manami's journey demonstrates how dedication, discipline, and proper guidance can lead to excellence. He expressed hope that her achievements would inspire more young people to pursue and preserve classical arts.
Manami, daughter of Moyir Riba, Assistant Professor at Rajiv Gandhi University, and Daman Gamlin, is currently pursuing her Visharad in Kathak at Nrityangan Dance and Music Academy.
She has performed at several prestigious platforms, including the G20 Summit and the C20 Summit, bringing laurels to the state. Her achievements, the Governor said, stand as a testament to dedication, cultural pride, and artistic excellence.
