Jammu, May 2: The Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) inaugurated its National Conference on the theme “Cultural Security is National Security” at Jammu on Friday. The three-day conference (May 1-3) marks the inaugural session of the 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of FANS and brings together experts and stakeholders from across the country.
Arunachal Pradesh Home and Inter-State Border Affairs Minister Mama Natung attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. In his address, Natung underlined the intrinsic link between cultural preservation and national security, stressing that safeguarding indigenous traditions, values, and identity is vital for a strong and unified nation.
The event was attended by Indresh Kumar, Chief Patron of FANS, along with MLAs Mohan Lal Bhagat and Devyani Rana, besides senior military veterans, academicians, public representatives, and social leaders.
During the session, Natung invited FANS to hold its next AGM in Arunachal Pradesh, a proposal that was warmly received by members, who acknowledged the strategic and cultural significance of the Northeast region.
In a key development, retired Vice Chief of Army Staff A S Lamba was elected as the new national president of FANS. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the organisation’s efforts in promoting awareness on national security.
The conference aims to foster dialogue on cultural integrity, national unity, and security awareness. The inaugural session concluded with a call for unity, cultural pride, and collective responsibility towards nation-building.
